Rochester, MI.- An hour north of the Lansing, MI. lays Mt. Pleasant the home of Central Michigan University and the Mt. Pleasant Oilers, the city’s public high school. The cities best players often practice on the Chippewas’ home court but the best player on that court might be the head coach’s son, Trey Zeigler a junior for the Oilers.

Trey has been with Team Detroit over the last three years and the A.A.U. squad schedule started this past weekend but came up short in search of a championship in the Michigan Mustangs’ Showdown in Motown by losing in the quarterfinals to the Mustangs. His team has potential and the 2010 guard had solid games on Saturday.

Trey talked about proving himself during the A.A.U. season, “(In high school) People don’t think I play against anybody.” Mt. Pleasant is in the Saginaw Valley Conference, which fielded three of the past four Class A state championships in Saginaw and Saginaw Arthur Hill but, the best team, Flint Northwestern, this year only went as far as the Class A quarterfinals.

Inside Prep Sports’ caught up with the highly taught junior Tuesday and he mentioned that he has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Arizona St., LSU, Miami (FL.), Syracuse, Providence, and Dayton while getting serious looks from Kansas, UCLA, and Syracuse to mention a few. He’ll take some visits in the fall and narrow his choices down to three or five after those trips.

There’s plenty of time in between now and then, as Team Detroit’s schedule is solid as they are scheduled to play in many of the nation’s best tournaments.

Team Detroit is headed to the Pitt Jam Fest this weekend and 6′2 point guard Ray McCallum, jr ‘10 is joining the squad to make one of the best backcourt combos in the country. Add in 6′5 guard Keenan Coleman ‘10 of Patterson Prep via Flint and that’s a high major trio.

The King James Shooting Stars, Bob Gibbon’s Tournament of Champions, Inside Prep Sports’ Border Battle, the adidas Take Five, and a trip to Las Vegas in July are all tournaments on the Team Detroit schedule.
