IPS spoke with Huber Heights (Wayne) coach Travis Trice Sr. not long ago about his take on this upcoming year. Trice had this to say about his ball club,” We’ll we are really excited about the potential we have and the opportunity that we are faced with for this upcoming season. With both Travis (Trice Jr) and Markus (Crider) now being called on in leadership roles and this being their team we are going to expect great things. The thing with both of them is their ability to play at a high level, but now we need them to lead others around them and to buy into playing harder, being leaders and playing more consistent. With Travis its just about becoming a leader and getting stronger in the weight room. With Markus it’s more of being consistent on the floor and showing up every night with a set determination to take over. We know what they are capable of doing, we just need to show it and do it. We also picked up a 6-3, 2010,guard from Gary, Indiana in Xavier Jones. Xavier was in a tough situation over at Gary and we got things worked out for him here at Wayne. We also picked 6-foot-2, 2011, Wing Isiah Boddie and with those two guys adding to the nucleus of what we have coming back we should be pretty good.”
Wayne plays a competitive schedule as always with non-conference games against Canton Timken, Gahanna Lincoln and national power Montverde Academy from Florida.
