Canton, OH–
It’s not quite often that we see a high school team filled with more weapons than a West Virginian pawn shop, and its also not everyday that we find a team that likes playing together and most importantly likes playing hard.
Well my friends…Dayton Dunbar is that team, and they’re the ideal team for any hoop fan to watch (Besides Northland)– they’re deep, strong, athletic and quick. Their ball pressure is somewhat similar to former Arkansas net-cutter, “Nolan Richardson’s 40 minutes of hell” defensive philosophy. Dunbar tries to wear you down by turning, spinning, running, jumping, trapping in the corners and persistently keeping the game uptempo and quick. Unlike most fast paced games that are sloppy and wild, Dunbar is fluid, flamboyant and most fitting. If it weren’t a potential NCAA violation they probably would have their own show on the strip in Vegas.
Dunbar will spearhead you with their overflow of guards and wings, as they’re lead by 6-foot-3, 2010, Guard, Geron Johnson and 5-foot-9, 2010, SG, Ryan Bass. Johnson is capable of taking over the game before the ball even tips, as he is a highlight show in warm-ups with his rock-the-cradle lay-ins and explosive rim kisses. Bass is just as electric as his pulley system inks a 40+’ vertical to go with a compact athletic core. Throw in slashers Deon Stewart (2010), Gary Akbar (2012), Delve Givens (2010) and 2012 forward Deonte Hawkins and your looking at a high-level potential championship caliber team.
Dunbar which is a Division 2 program in Ohio, is ranked by numerous National polls in the top 30 across the country and some even have them as high as 20 –Dunbar will try to maintain their pace of perfection while traveling into Canton Glen Oak on Saturday night. Glen Oak is not nearly as talented or deep, but on any given night Camelot can always be shaken.
Dunbar is currently 13-0 on the year and plays on Friday night before heading northbound to Canton on Saturday.
Players to Watch:
Geron Johnson/6-foot-2/2010/G –High major interest, has gears, vision and pro athleticism.

Deontae Hawkins/6-foot-7/2012/F –Young prospect that ooozes with upside and potential.
